Your True Wealth

The new concept of wealth does not measure how much wealth you have, but how long can you manage to live without working. Now, the richest is not who has more, but who needs the least. The less tied up you are to make money to maintain your lifestyle, the richer you are and certainly you will be more free as well.

To reach this kind of wealth, you should maximize the efficiency of your income, avoiding unnecessary expenses, living on a budget, caring for what you have, avoiding debt and directing your income toward savings and investment. These techniques will result in having financial independence, within the concept of not working for a living.

However, although this concept is right, still does not cover the concept of true wealth, which is not "outside" but "inside". Jesus told you to store up for yourself treasure in heaven, not on earth. You will spend much more time there than here, and the treasure you store up here does nothing for you in heaven. Connect with God, the infinite source of abundance, because your true wealth is directly proportional to the richness of your spiritual life.

If you have a rich spiritual life, you are not poor. If you have a poor spiritual life, you are not rich. Your true wealth is God.

The Daily Gospel

Luke 12:13-34

Someone in the crowd said to him, Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me. Jesus replied, Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you? Then he said to them, Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.

And he told them this parable: The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops. Then he said, This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I'll say to myself: You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry. But God said to him: You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself? This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God.

Then Jesus said to his disciples: Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you, you of little faith! And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

It Works

When you turn on an appliance, you expect it to work. You turn it on, sure about the outcome and if it does not work, something is wrong with the electricity supply or the appliance. When you release the power of God through prayer, you are not sure what to expect or if it is going to work. You pray with uncertainty, and when praying does not work, you do not know if the problem is related to energy or prayer.

The problem is that you lack information on the Power of God and that lack of knowledge does not allow you to know what kind of energy you need to run prayer or to pray effectively. Draw near to God and His Word and let his spirit come inside you, because that is the energy that powers your prayers. To have the Spirit of God within you, you must accept Him as your Father, with authority over you and obey him in everything. For prayer to be effective, it must be done according to His Will. Then gradually you will get results and you will pray with more confidence, faith and security.

If your house has electricity, a button operates all. If you have the Spirit of God, your prayer will achieve God's will.

The Daily Gospel

John 3:1-8

Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. He came to Jesus at night and said, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him. Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. How can someone be born when they are old? Nicodemus asked. Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother's womb to be born!

Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, You must be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.

Wisdom

The definition of wisdom say wisdom is accumulated philosophic or scientific learning, ability to discern inner qualities and relationships, good sense, a wise attitude, belief or course of action, the teachings of the ancient wise men. This definition is irrelevant and subjective, after all, common human wisdom has been wrong before and an overview of  the history and current state of the world, questions the collective wisdom of the world.

There is a different and definitely more relevant definition, which is the divine wisdom. The concept is based on the fact that only God is perfectly wise and if you want to get close to His Wisdom, you should get close to Him. The Bible says that being wise is knowing God, doing what He has commanded you to do and to base your actions on the principles of His Word.

When you approach God and seek his wisdom, you managed to fall and get back up, start in a way and end in a total different one, confront and overcome obstacles and persevere when circumstances tell you cannot do it. You are a miracle of the Creator of the Universe and with God you will achieve success.

If you want wisdom, seek God to know him and obey him. That isn't the wisdom of the world, but the world is not going well, don't follow it.

The Daily Gospel

Luke 7:24-35

After John's messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.

I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. (All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus' words, acknowledged that God's way was right, because they had been baptized by John. But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God's purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.)

Jesus went on to say: To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling out to each other: We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not cry. For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon. The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. But wisdom is proved right by all her children.

The Daily Verses

Father, Lord of heaven and earth, you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Matthew 11:25

But wisdom is proved right by all her children. Luke 7:35

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Luke 9:25

For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict. Luke 21:15

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. John 1:9

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. John 14:27

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Responsible = Decide

Human beings are known to have the tendency of not achieving the goals and dreams, for their own decision.

That, immobilizes and ties you down, so that you do not progress and grow. Worse, you will not be the person you were meant to be. However, God has given you the ability and the right to be free of this lack of decision-making power that binds you. Live free and stop blaming others for what goes wrong in your life. Take responsibility for making your own decisions.

Every day you get the opportunity to start over, change, move on, grow, progress, learn and prosper your life. The responsibility is yours. The decision is yours. Your happiness depends on no other than yourself.

Life is what is happening now, at this moment. At this time, something you can not understand, keeps you alive. Do not get used to life, or get used to waking up every day feeling like your life will never change. Open your eyes and be grateful for the blessing of being alive. Be free from all bonds. ¡Seek your destiny!

God gave you life and the duty to seize it. Do not blame others for your problems. You must assume responsibility for your own decisions.

The Daily Gospel

Matthew 13:1-9

That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying: A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop, a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

Matthew 13:18-23

Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

Responsible Parenthood

As parents, you have the opportunity to change the world. When the family is healthy, the world will follow. All the evils that afflict humanity, like: violence, addiction, resentment, low self esteem, lack of identity, hatred, depression and suicide, often begins within the family.

Ask God for help to understand your children, listen patiently to what they have to say and answer their questions kindly. To be gentle to them, to teach them with love and not make fun of their mistakes, or humiliate or embarrass them in front of others.

Ask God for help to avoid abusing them physically or verbally and instead, have for them: words of encouragement, quality time, hugs, kisses and love, which is the best you can give them and to be able them to give them the freedom to think and make decisions according to their age, with responsibility.

Ask God to guide you to give a good example tor your children, with everything you say and do, being a good role model.

The Daily Gospel

Luke 12:35-48

Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Peter asked, Lord, are you telling this parable to us, or to everyone? The Lord answered, Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whom the master finds doing so when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. But suppose the servant says to himself, My master is taking a long time in coming, and he then begins to beat the other servants, both men and women, and to eat and drink and get drunk. The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers.

The servant who knows the master's will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
