The Prophecy Was Fulfilled. Isaiah prophesied the birth of Jesus, seven centuries before it happened. He said: The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine. That light will give you prosperity and happiness, will break the yoke of your slavery and lift the heavy burden from your shoulders and will give you peace. For a child is born to you, a son is given to you. The government will rest on his shoulders, and he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen! (Isaiah 9:2-7). Seven hundred years later, this prophecy was fulfilled with the birth of Jesus, which we celebrate in Christmas, because He is the Light that brought us out of the darkness.
